OUR HISTORY

orchards Agen prunes

For 5 generations, our orchards produce the famous Agen prunes, in the LOT Valley in Penne d’Agenais.

In the Eighties, Michel and Claudine Vergnes decide to market a part of their production by selling direct from the farm.

In 1990, Sylvain , the eldest son, develops plantations to meet customers’ demands.

In 1996, Gilles the younger, joins his parents and brother to develop wholesales.

At the beginning of the 2000s the farm is not big enough to shelter manufacturing. Vergnes family decides to buy the old prune and can factory, Alary.

At the beginning of the 2010s, new premises were constructed to increase the production and storage capacity.

Today, Les Vergers d’Escoute stretch over 4000 m², They produce and distribute more and 1000 tons of products/year. 25 collaborators work in full time and around 50 during the harvest period to help in the company development and increase the know-how .
